Job Title
Recycling Department Manager
Company
BPI group
Having completed a BSc in Materials Science and Engineering I was attracted to the packaging industry because of the challenges posed by the constant market changes which require businesses to produce ever more sophisticated products in the most environmentally responsible manner. The BPI group is a market leader across a range of polythene film products and is a very environmentally aware organisation which is important to me personally.

In my time with BPI I have advanced through six different roles moving from being a Production Technician to managing Health & Safety for a large site and then to managing my own Recycling Department. Following this I progressed to become a Materials Manager responsible for logistics, stock control, and management of the warehouse. Wishing to utilise my scientific and engineering skills further I took on the role of Technical Manager to gain experience in research and development, complaint management, quality issues, and environmental management.

Within the past year I have moved to another BPI site where I work as the Extrusion Manager for our industrial and agricultural films. This role allows me to bring together all the experience and expertise I have gained in my time with the company.

Managing a team of 60 people, I have had much more responsibility and opportunities than I ever could have hoped for. I have received plenty of training and support from my senior colleagues and I aspire to progressing to a greater operational role in the future.
