Maintenance Supervisor

Typical job description:

A highly experienced mechanical, instrument or electrical maintenance technician who works on an offshore oil or gas platform/FPSO planning, co-ordinating and managing  planned and unplanned maintenance activities in accordance with industry/company  procedures and safe systems of work.

Key Processes:

The exact nature of the work will depend on the size of the employing organisation.
However, it will almost certainly involve:

  • Plans, organises and executes offshore maintenance regime;
  • Co-ordinates and supervises maintenance teams;
  • Ensures availability of plant, systems and equipment to meet production/ performance targets;
  • Ensures maintenance activities are carried out safely and in accordance with the permit to work system/safety management system;
  • Co-ordinates shutdown plans;
  • Contributes as member of offshore management team

Entry Level:

HNC/HND/degree in engineering discipline;
Proven track record in an offshore/onshore maintenance/ engineering role;
Previous supervisory experience

Knowledge needed for the role:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of industry HSE practices;
  • Good knowledge and understanding of legislation as applied offshore;
  • Regarded as a specialist in technical discipline;
  • Proactive approach to offshore safety management;
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of maintenance of offshore plant, systems and equipment;

Pay and conditions:

Pay and benefits vary between companies but generally annual salaries are typically in the range of £70,000 - £85,000 including regular allowances.

The usual work pattern offshore is 12 hour shifts. The work cycle is usually 2 or 3 weeks offshore then 2 or 3 weeks onshore leave, depending on the company.
