Supervisor - Production or Maintenance team

The exact nature of the work will depend on the size of the employing organisation.
However, it will almost certainly involve:
- Setting and reviewing Production and Maintenance plans
- Supervising day to day maintenance work and outages
- Reports of work done and findings of test and inspections
- Ensure the development of team members and the completion of identified training
- Managing, recognising and rewarding good performance
- Assess and ensure standards of team and individual work
- Preparing Authorisations to isolate equipment, carry out maintenance and restart
- Work closely with other Team Leaders and Team Members
Entry Level:
- N/SVQ level 3 Engineering discipline
- HNC/HND/FD in an Engineering discipline
- 3 years experience of plant production and maintenance

Industry Standard:
- HND/FD in Engineering
- IOSH Managing Safely Certificate
- ILM Level 3 Certificate in First Line Management

- Team working and flexibility
- Ability to understand and interpret procedures

- Classified Person on the national register of Radiation Classified Workers
Knowledge needed for the role:
- A good knowledge of the process technologies
- Knowledge of nuclear quality standards as applied to product and equipment
- Health & Safety Legislation, Company Quality Procedures, Site licence conditions, the Safety Case and the regulators
- Site working conditions and agreements
- Information Communications Technology
- Planning and scheduling techniques
- Continuous Improvement techniques
Pay and conditions:
Salaries are in the range of £23,000 to £35,000 per year depending on acquired skills, disciplines and qualifications.
Between 35 and 40 hours per week. Supervisors often work shifts and overtime and might be called out on emergency plant breakdowns.
Extra payment is made for shift work and overtime. The industry has an excellent safety record and culture.
