Maintenance Manager

Typical job description:

Is responsible for all refinery maintenance activities. Much of the work involves full maintenance control over what happens at the refinery including routine and turnaround maintenance, plant modifications, project management personnel and logistics.

Key Processes:

The exact nature of the work will depend on the size of the employing organisation.
However, it will almost certainly involve:

  • Responsible for all maintenance activities for the whole refinery
  • Strategic management responsibility for refinery engineering staff
  • Responsible for the development of the refinery maintenance strategy
  • Responsible for ensuring that maintenance resources provide a productive, efficient and cost effective execution of maintenance schedules across work area
  • Is part of the refinery senior management team

Entry Level:

Degree in Mechanical or Instrument/Electrical Engineering (or other relevant engineering discipline)
Chartered Engineer
Extensive experience in refinery plant maintenance

Knowledge needed for the role:

  • Has a complete understanding of the business and its impact on impact on local, national and international markets
  • Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of refinery processes
  • Health and Safety issues and Codes of practice relevant to the industry including COSHH and COMAH Regs
  • Has a complete understanding of strategic maintenance planning and turnaround activities

Pay and conditions:

Salaries are in the range £60,000 to £80,000 plus other allowances. Normal daywork hours and subject to weekend and public holiday on call duties.
