The exact nature of the work will depend on the size of the employing organisation.
However, it will almost certainly involve:
- Ensure that all relevant refinery personnel are fully aware of SHE and quality policies and procedures; project specific SHE and quality plans and agreed as appropriate.
- Be aware of new or existing legislation, approved codes of practice, guidance notes, and government reports.
- Promote guidance, advice, and understanding and compliance across the refinery with requirements in COMAH, COSHH, HMR&C Regulations Manual Handling, PPE, DSE, environmental, waste management and health and hygiene standards and objectives.
- Manage corporate safety training policy as applicable to the needs and requirements of the refinery
- Ensure that audits are carried out to establish that the refinery meets current legislative requirements, and its own SHE targets.
- Ensure that the deliveries of facilities engineering support and projects are executed in an efficient and safe manner in pursuance of refinery technical, management and HSEQ processes
Entry Level:
- Degree in an Engineering discipline
- Chartered Engineer
- Extensive experience in health, safety and environment

Knowledge needed for the role:
- Has a complete understanding of the business and its impact on impact on local, national and international markets
- Thorough and comprehensive knowledge occupational health, safety and environment
- Health and Safety issues and Codes of practice relevant to the industry including COSHH and COMAH, HMR&C Regulations
- Risk Assessments
Pay and conditions:
Salaries are in the range £55,000 to £80,000 plus other allowances. Normal daywork hours and subject to weekend and public holiday on call duties.
