Senior Engineer

Key Processes:
The exact nature of the work will depend on the size of the employing organisation.
However, it will almost certainly involve:
- Provides technical advice to operating department on an area or group of areas of plant within the refinery, or on a specialist field of expertise including sytems analyst, advance control specialist, analyser expert etc.
- Carries out technical coaching and mentoring of others in same discipline, providing best practice advice and guidance.
- Undertakes projects either individually or as leader of a small task and finish team of seconded engineers.
- Has a working knowledge of other disciplines.
- Develops and implements plans up to a year ahead; is responsible for functional planning and budgeting.
Entry Level:
- Degree in an Engineering discipline
- Extensive experience in plant operation.
- A technical specialist on a particular topic including sytems analyst, advance control specialist, analyser expert etc

Chartered Engineer
Technical specialist in a wider area than above
Functional Skills – IT Level 2
Competencies:
- Good communication skills
- Able to read and understand piping and instrumentation drawings and other engineering documents
- Project management skills
- Prepare for planned and unplanned maintenance activities
- Problem solving
Knowledge needed for the role:
- Has a complete understanding of the business and its impact on impact on local, national and international markets
- Health and Safety issues and Codes of practice relevant to the industry
- COSHH and COMAH Regs
- Risk Assessments
Pay and conditions:
Salaries are in the range £50,000 to £75,000 plus other allowances. Normal daywork hours and subject to weekend and public holiday on call duties.
