Maintenance Superintendent

Typical job description:

Is responsible for the maintenance activities including routine and turnaround maintenance of a group of process pants or a specified area of the refinery.

Key Processes:

The exact nature of the work will depend on the size of the employing organisation.
However, it will almost certainly involve:

  • Manage maintenance activities in a major division of the refinery
  • Manage planning and control of manpower to maintain an efficient and effective work area.
  • Accountable for all planned and unplanned maintenance activities
  • Line management responsibility for engineering staff
  • Assists Maintenance Manager in development of maintenance strategy
  • Responsible for ensuring that maintenance resources provide a productive, efficient and cost effective execution of maintenance schedules across work area
  • Accountable for the safety of all personnel working within or visiting their area

Entry Level:

- Degree in Mechanical or Instrument/Electrical Engineering (or other relevant engineering discipline)

- Extensive experience in plant maintenance

Knowledge needed for the role:

  • Health and Safety issues and Codes of practice relevant to the industry
  • Legislation including Health & Safety at Work Act, Electrical Regs, Vessel Inspection Regs etc.
  • Risk Assessments

Pay and conditions:

Salaries are in the range £50,000 to £75,000 plus other allowances. Normal daywork hours and subject to weekend and public holiday on call duties.
