Asset Planner
Typical job description:
Key Processes:
The exact nature of the work will depend on the size of the employing organisation.
However, it will almost certainly involve:
- Optimises refinery wide maintenance activity to support plant availability to the right time by provision and control of maintenance plan, routine budget and resource allocation
- Responsible for ensuring full work packs are available for all scheduled work
- Monitors and reports on the performance on contractors and maintenance activity (i.e. Technicians)
- Supports the assurance processes for the cost effective control of approved maintenance expenditure
- May be responsible for final sign off of all contractor day-work claims
Entry Level:
- HNC in Mechanical, Instrument or Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- S/NVQ L3 in Mechanical or Instrument/Electrical Engineering
- Has extensive experience in plant maintenance

- HNC in Mechanical, Instrument or Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- S/NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical, Instrument or Electrical Engineering or related discipline
- Functional Skills – IT Level 2
Competencies:
- Good communication skills
- Able to read and understand piping and instrumentation drawings and other engineering documents
- Project management skills
- Prepare for planned and unplanned maintenance activities
- Problem solving
Knowledge needed for the role:
- Health and Safety issues and Codes of practice relevant to the industry
- Health and Safety issues and Codes of practice relevant to the industry
- Legislation including Health & Safety at Work Act, Electrical Regs, Vessel Inspection Regs etc.
- Risk Assessments
Pay and conditions:
Salaries are in the range £22,000 to £30,000. Normal daywork hours.
